The SCHIRN becomes a stage - in a unique project by award-winning video and installation artist Neïl Beloufa. In different rooms outside the classic exhibition areas, he creates sceneries for his latest works. The center and starting point is the strip. His basic elements such as set design, light, editing and perspective, he also applies to the development of his photos, sculptures and installations. This creates collaborative works that lift the position and perspective of a single author.
Beloufa performs situations in which the protagonists speak of things that might or might not exist. In a next step, these same situations are repeated as if any one else were watching them - the fiction, the commentary on the fiction and, as we know, the commentary on the production of a fiction are artistically combined. Confused by his own perception, the viewer can not tell apart from true and false anymore. Neïl Beloufa lives and works in Paris.
He studied u. a. at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs at the California Institute of the Arts, Valencia (USA), and the Cooper Union, New York. His art has been shown in numerous exhibitions, u. a. at the K11 in Shanghai, the Museum of Modern Formation in New York at both the ICA, Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
